So yesterday while at dinner with Crissy and our student workers one of Crissy's advisees read my palm and informed me I have one true love in my life, and many crushes, and I will settle down with them and get married by my late 20's. Where you at? haha. I ran into an ACES student I've met with a few times who is another example of why I do what I do, b/c during one of his visits he seemed REALLLY down and it was concerning, so a day or so later I had sent an email just to check in and let him know I was concerned and there if he needed me, and he replied how much that meant to have someone on this campus actually give a damn about him, etc. He shouted me out "Ms Noonan" all excited, and it was just awesome. He looked like a different person, just glowing and happy, and he wanted to introduce me to his girlfriend who apparently knew all about me. Oh warm fuzzy moments. Afterward Mary, Ilona, Jess and I made an impromptu trip to Sneaky's for nickel night and to celebrate Mary and Jess (first years) finally being done. This blacked out townie came over to us and was hitting on us and I was repulsed... until he shared that he returned from a 5 year tour in Iraq and Afghanistan and was now working at a gas station, and yanno getting blacked out drunk on a Wednesday /= It broke my heart. I could blog forever about my thoughts on this war and how we are not taking care of those brave enough to serve and come back with horrible PTSD and tons of other shit. ahh. Anycrap here's a pic of us gals
So today was a whacky day. I slept in till 10 which was glorious and much needed as I've slept like total garbage all week. Unfortunately when I strolled over to my computer I saw a rejection email from Wheelock College in Boston where I phone interviewed and had thought it went very well and was a great fit. I started getting realllllly down on myself and was ready to just crawl right back in bed when Kimeta, my "supervisor" at ACES called to offer me an interview!!!!! AHHHH! I was starting to get really bummed that I wasn't even going to get an interview b/c like 140 people applied and things have been weird with her, but alas what goes down must come up?! Defying gravity! haha. I'm really nervous about both that and my interview with Bennington this Monday and Tuesday. Oh man, big things. So tonight I had my "departure dinner" with my staff, which is awkward cuz yanno I'm interviewing there, but it was really nice, and Crissy got done closing her house fast so she was able to come! We went to Coyote Flaco, a delightful Mexican restaurant, and Crissy picked up sick gifts for me! I got an awesome picture frame with words around it like "inspire, dream, believe...", a Java Blue Vera Bradley checkholder and eyeglass case, and a beautiful homemade brown and blue business card holder. Here's a pic of the staff (Ann, Jim, Steve, Aaron, and our student workers couldn't make it)
Afterward Crissy and I head over to her new home to celebrate with some wine! I'm so proud and excited for her!
So I graduate tomorrow. Crazy.
oh ps HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY DARLING SCOOOOOO (aka Cassie!)
