Fluff it

Operation: Be Happy in CT is in full effect and I am actively engaging in things to make this happen. My wife down in TX has recently adopted this motto as well and I wish her all the best as so far it's done wonders for me. Fluff (forewarning I am now forever replacing this with the other four letter curse word) our old negative miserable mindsets of making grad school the portion of our lives we just needed to suffer through before we could return to our real fun lives, THIS IS OUR LIFE HERE AND NOW AND I'M GOING TO START LIVING IT RIGHT!

Some highlights of last week:
Wednesday during my Leadership class we had 3 relatively new professionals (all of which I truly respect and admire) at UConn come and talk about what it was like to be the newbie, their past, theories and advice on being a new professional, etc etc. It was incredibly inspiring, I took 2 pages of notes. A blog entry dedicated to things I gained from this presentation is to come soon.

Friday my darling Rita Pita organized a big happy hour late celebration of my birthday at Sneaker's (the epitome of sketchy townie bar in Ashford, CT). Despite the fact that everyone except for our large group there were piece of work local townies it was a great time, with super cheap booze and appetizers. I still can't begin to express how astronomically different the dynamic is in my program now thanks to this new bunch of first years, and in a very good way. People stayed for nearly 5 hours of ridiculous fun, that NEVER would have happened last year. Even John, Rita's boyfriend came out and brought Pacino with him. I definitely snuck out to their car in the parking lot every chance I got to play with him! Here's some pics of the night:

The aftermath of Mary suggesting that a certain creeper professional at UConn was attractive

I've been crazy about Pep since the moment I meant him on the campus tour during Interview Days!

Sully and her other half, Mr. Forti

Falzo and Will!

When we finally departed, Will, Faith and I went to get Pumpkin Spice Lattes to kick off the fall from Starbuck's then watched Garden State. All in all a fabulous evening.

Saturday I did homework by day, then went to Chuck and Margarita's by night with a bunch of the first years and Kevin to meet Mary's beau Colin. He's super nice and even invited us a free weekend stay at his parents lakehouse in Vermont. umm yes please, where can I sign up?!

Sunday was Open House, then Crissy and I went on a lovely brisk walk through town and up to the park (I forgot a camera AGAIN!). It was beautiful and much needed!

This morning I had my second bizarro encounter with sketchy women in the gym at the bathroom. Last week a heavy set middle aged woman disrobed prior to getting in the shower inches away from me which was an unexpected surprise so early in the am. Not exactly on my breakfast menu if yanno what I mean. Than to make my life more awkward of course she later stood next to me in her bra blowdrying her hair and being all chatty Cathy as if I didn't just see her completely exposed and wasn't thinking about the horror that was the entire time we spoke. That's fine. So this morning as I'm blowdrying my hair (CLOTHED THANK YOU), this crazy woman approaches me and is like "Are you almost done with that?", to which I applied with a look that implied she had about 27 heads. She then said in a shocked tone "Oh... is that yours from home?". "UMMM YEA!", to which she replied "Oh, they don't supply them here? DARN!". Are you serious?! What planet are you from that the gym just has blowdryers lying around for public use like it's Lemon Tree or something?! Then of course not 2 minutes later I look over to find crazy blowdryer lady parading around with stocking on the inside, and sheer satin lace underwear on the outside as if she's superman, and wearing nothing else but high heels. Yup folks, that's right, she was wearing her underwear on the outside of her stocking like Quail Woman or WonderWoman or something and had put heels on but no pants. Apparently this woman needs detailed instructions on the proper way to dress in the morning. Jeezy peets.

In other news:

What the fluff?! Disney is bringing Peter Pan to Broadway and letting the Muppets make a comeback on the market?! That's the best fluffing news I've heard in a LONG time!!!!!!

Okay I need to finally get my laundry that's been stagnant waiting for me for over an hour. I cannot wait for this Friday, I'm going to the Big E fair for the first time in my life and Roey, Bri, Becky, Sissy, and Kayla Babytime Baby will be there as well!!!
