the start of a beautiful ending

I don't want to jinx things, but my new attitude, and all the other new in my life (fabulous roomie, new responsibilities at work, new classes, new cohort, new look of our apartment, etc) are really just great! I never thought I would say that I really enjoy UConn (well aside from homework which, sorry, I know it helps us learn, but I'll never enjoy).

Wednesday a bunch of the first years invited my cohort out to dinner, but due to the last minute invite and crazy week I was the only one who went from my cohort. We went to Chuck and Margaritas (one of my fav restaurants around here) for "Buy 1 get 1 free entree night". It was so much fun, I really enjoy this new group of people alot!!!

This past Friday one of the first years hosted a "Make your own pizza & game night" at her place on campus and I honestly cannot remember the last time I have laughed so hard. It was amazing. I have never had that much fun with a bunch of HESA folk before and that's largely b/c of the awkwardness and tension that surrounding any gatherings last year due to silly drama and weird relationships with the cohort above us. We played Cranium (during which Mary and Diep attempted to act out the Titanic which is a hilarious memory I will probably never forget b/c I honestly stopped breathing for a couple of seconds from laughing so hard at their ridiculousness), drank Sangria and other tasty treats, made scrumptious pizzas, and just relaxed and chatted about life and each other, school was not allowed to be discussed which was super refreshing! When it came time to leave I remembered that I walked thru the woods (or as it's known at UConn, the "rape trail") with some other HESA people to get there and for w/e reason had a strong feeling that I shouldn't walk back to my car alone that night. Any other night I would do this with no hesitation but something told me not to, and boy am I thankful I had Adam drive me to my car. The next day while I was at the girls house watching a movie for class we received an email alerting us that not 30 minutes after Adam dropped me off at my car was a student attacked by a man with a weapon and sexually assaulted in a wooded area on campus. This is now the 2nd close encounter I've had with rape, the first at Oneonta this past graduation weekend. That was just long enough ago that I've started letting my guard down again, and it's awful tragic things like this that remind us all that our guard must always be up. Craziness.

In other news, I've had a killer headache for almost 3 days now, yesterday was the worst b/c the horrible rain did a real number on me given the fact that my jaw was broken so rain always gives me headaches. I'm certain I have yet another sinus infection (I've had about 10 since January) and am finally going to the Health Center tomorrow for meds b/c I'm losing my freaking mind.

Okay, I don't have much other news to report that I can think of except that I am so excited to hit the road for Oneonta on Friday that I could pee my pants.

Back to homework wahhh wahhhh
