Navigating the big girl world

Sorry for the hiatus from posting.

So Friday after I had my crazy encounter with a woman in my gym parking lot I had a great interview with a faculty member from the Psyc department for a paper we need to write for one of my classes inquiring into the life of faculty and their perceptions of student affairs professionals. It was the most honest discussion I've had with someone of great importance in a college setting in such a long time. Granted this man has tenure so he doesn't need to worry about getting fired for what he says, but I think that even ifhe didn't he would have been just as candid about some of the bullshit business first top down administration politics and tactics UConn uses.

I putzed around the rest of the day, until I decided to suck it up and order tickets for Florida at the end of February for Kayla's birthday b/c prices went down a bit and I know I will really regret it if everyone is there and I'm not and I don't get to see her again until May. I cannot wait until 10pm Feb. 27th when I'm there!!! Eventually I head to the liquor store to pick up wine for the weekend. The sketchy father and son who own the place know me by name, but decided to be "cute" and card me. The father then commented on how 1986 was a good year, to which I just smiled and kept my mouth shut as I walked out the store as I was born in 1985. Good thing he can read since he's carding and all

Mary and I then escaped to East Greenbush to surprise Colin, get the heck out of CT for a bit, and meet the newest addition to her family, Brandy

We had a great weekend. On Friday we had amazing eggplant pizza at this restaurant in Troy, then met up with Becky at the Metro 20 Diner in Albany where I had orgasmic bread pudding and hot cocoa! The visit with Becky definitely needed to be longer but I'll take what I can get. Saturday we bummed around Mary's pseudo dad's house and played with the puppies, and made a half assed attempt at doing homework before drinking and dinner festivities commenced. Not to brag, but I was back to my old self on Saturday with the amount of alcohol I was able to consume and still be fully functioning and fine. A bottle of wine, a Long Island, a Whiskey Sour, and a sangria and a half haha. I also had the best slice of Key Lime Pie that has ever crossed my palate. Here's a pic of Mary, Col, and I out on the town in Troy:

After dinner/dessert we visited with Colin's friends at their new home which was a good time. On Sunday we went back to her pseudo dad's for "doggy pancakes" (he makes pancakes for the dogs every Sunday, and the humans eat them too haha), then we putzed around, went to Friendly's for a yummy and affordable linner, then Mary and I begrudgingly head back to CT.

Monday I went home to have the recurring cyst in my eye removed. As usual since I have Medicaid I rotted in the waiting room for 2 1/2 hours, was eventually taken in by some putz who was trying to talk me out of having the procedure I just drove 2 1/2 hours, then waited 2 1/2 hours in a waiting room for, until he went to consult with the head surgeon consult who knew everything in the world there was to know about my syndrome and was incredibly compassionate, friendly, and helpful. His name was Dr. Rogers which I found amusingly ironic as that is what I call my friend Greg teasingly as he plans on getting his PhD and yanno his last name is Rogers haha. The putz then began the procedure but not before he almost severely damaged my eye by using the wrong scissors to cut into it with. He was literally centimeters away from my eyeball when Dr. Rogers jumped in and informed him these were cataract surgery scissors!!! When I saw the scissors he was supposed to use I was even more unnerved as there is no way you could confuse the two. Never a dull moment with Medicaid. He didn't do a good job either as it should be an internal procedure, yet the top of my eyelid is cut up and bloody. It's really sexy actually. After that we went back to my aunt and uncle's, she made a yummy veggie lasagna and pesto garlic bread, and Rosie came to visit with cupcakes!

Tuesday after work I went to pick up my new glasses which are super fabulous (pics to come when my eye doesn't look like a hot mess). My mom called later that evening and was asking all about graduation, and when I told her how I get hooded she asked me it was like the Ku Klux Klan. I'm fairly confident she wasn't kidding either...

Crissy made her yummy cabbage and beans dinner tonight which is always delicioso. I have a mock interview tomorrow which I am not at all prepared for as I've spent I don't even want to think about how long constantly revamping my cover letter and resume. I shouldn't have too much going on at work tomorrow so hopefully I can give some thought to responses so I don't look like too much of a bumbling idiot. My first job application is due THIS FRIDAY! AHHH So scary, things will finally be in motion. So weird.

Friday I'm going out to dinner and to see Friday the 13th for my friend Eric's bday. Saturday I'm returning to the House of Fuzz to have a very fuzzy valentine celebration with him, and my aunt and uncle.

Okay, I need to pass out now. I'll leave you with some funny and powerful videos:

Two things:
1) KKK? Really? Oh that is just too perfect.

2) Friday the 13th? What happened to your plan of flying solo at He's Just Not That Into You? Those are two very different movies!
