Laughter, and Wine, and Pumpkins Oh My!

Another great weekend in CT! Yesterday I talked to my sister briefly and she reminded me how significantly better this year has been thus far than last. Overall, any fun I had last year involved me leaving the state of CT, yet this year I'm here most weekends and really enjoy myself (perhaps a bit too much since I barely get HW done over the weekend but oh well!)

Thursday night Crissy and I were the epitome of domestic bliss. I was in the kitchen baking up a variety of treats for a HESA party the next day (& for us to sample for Grey's night) as she scrubbed the bathrooms. She clearly got the shit end of the stick (literally haha) but we balance each other out well so it works. Crissy had a little too much sugar for her brain to handle which led us to go into a fit of laughter over an impromptu staring contest. We both had aching abs and faces soaked with tears by the end. It was glorious.

Friday after work Tanya hosted another party at her place, the theme being Mexican food so it was entitled "HESAdilla" where we all partook in many quesadillas filled with an assortment of goodies, margaritas, etc. I made "no pudge" brownies & melted pumpkin spice Hershey Kisses inside to make them pumpkin brownies, & made pumpkin cookies with cinnamon icing (made w/ applesauce so all the dessert were light & delicious!). Kevin was unfortunately surprised when he bit into a brownie with a kiss on top b/c he assumed it was peanut butter so the taste was quite surprising haha. Here's a pic of my work of art:

Overall it was a pretty fun night & I got to really drink for once b/c Mary was sober Sally that night & let me stay at her place! We woke up the next morning & Mary played housewife & made me scrambled eggs, cinnamon buns, & yogurt for b-fast. Delightful! I then head home to run errands & get ready for our day of fall fun. We went to the corn maze by school (where after paying they gave us change in $2 bills!). I was on Drew & Will's team & we had no interest in competing to find all the clues in the maze so instead we made up our own answers to the questions which was WAY more fun then found our way out & relaxed and took in the scenery. Check it out:

Afterwards we went to the local pumpkin patch to get some pumpkins to carve & roast seeds. Here's some pics from Pumpkin Pauls:

Then we went back to Mary's where many carved pumpkins & indulged in cider, pumpkin pie, seeds, etc. My favorites were Kevin's who carved his nickname into his pumpkin & Will who intensely carved the UConn seal into his. Here's the final products:

Afterwards the crowd slowly filtered out and Mary, Kevin, and I were the only who remained. We decided to go to dinner at Bidwell Tavern, then went over to Ashley's where we watched Juno, drank wine & beer, and laughed till we cried and our tummy's hurt over nothing. Amazing night. Here's a pic of us girls that I took b/c after about 25 ridiculous attempts by Kevin to take a pic I took matters into my own hands:

Today Crissy's parents visited & they made a yummy lunch of broccoli rabe, sauteed zucchini, & tomato & fresh mozz sandwiches. DELISH! Then I spent the rest of the day cleaning/laundry, etc. Now I have to actually do HW since I clearly have avoided that all weekend.

ps I bought a new Billy Blanks Ultimate Tae-Bo workout DVD & it includes an intense hour & a half workout, which at first seems daunting, but halfway thru when you're reaching the point where you want to quit he busts out some random dancing & some old classics like the Tootsie Roll. It's the perfect way to start off a day, I had a blast boogying down at 5:30am, it made it go by so fast & so much more enjoyable!
